William Clennell

I am 20 years old and study Economics at Cambridge University. Having first started to play at Reading School, I am now the president of Cambridge University Bridge Club and play regularly at both the city and university clubs. I also play in my home town of Camberley during the holidays and have really benefitted from the junior squad which I joined in 2019.

I attend a number of congresses throughout the year, along with other county events, and typically do best in consolation events… winning the Schools Plate, the ‘B’ final of the Scarborough Teams and the Blue-Pointed Surrey Swiss Pairs are all examples! More recently, I finished 3rd in the Portland Bowl and 2nd in the Cambs & Hunts county knockout.

I am also a keen director and qualified as a club TD in 2018. During lockdown, I have been organising and running sessions for various virtual clubs on BBO, as well as a pairs and teams series for junior and university players. Since January 2021, I have also been involved in the Young Chelsea junior program as the TD and organiser of their weekly under 26 duplicates on RealBridge.
