Susanna Gross

Susanna, bridge columnist for the Spectator since 2000, has played for England Women’s Bridge team, winning the Lady Milne in 2011, and for the Mixed Team at the 2016 World Bridge Games. She has won numerous domestic competitions, including the Corwen Trophy, the Easter Congress Guardian Trophy, the teams event at the London Year End Congress and the Whitelaw Cup.

Susanna became the literary editor of The Mail on Sunday in 1999. She was born in London and educated at the University of York. She previously worked as an editor at the Daily Mail, was features editor of Harper’s Bazaar and was deputy editor of The Week. The daughter of literary critic and writer John Gross and of literary editor Miriam Gross, she is married to the novelist and critic John Preston. Her brother Tom Gross is a journalist and international affairs commentator, specializing in the Middle East
