Nathalie Shashou

I started playing bridge with my girl friends at the age of 40, pregnant with my fifth child. I waited until the end of my bridge lesson with Glyn Liggins to head straight to the hospital to give birth.

In 2014, after playing with Nick Sandqvist, one of the greatest players ever (... he might have helped me write this bit) in a charity event, we became friends and then bridge partners and have gone on to win (and not win...) a handful of national events.

Since finding my passion, playing for my country has been a dream of mine. I was incredibly lucky to connect with Sally Brock just before the Lady Milne 2021 trials and secured second place. We were selected and England won the event.

I live in London with my wonderful husband Joseph (who I've been with since I was 19). We have five children, and more recently, a beautiful granddaughter. I was raised in both London and France and love languages. Before I fell in love with bridge, I was a house designer and project manager. When I’m not playing bridge, I enjoy walking my two dogs in Regent’s Park, reading, doing jigsaws, crossword puzzles and travelling the world.
