Peter Lester

We are sad to learn of the death of well-known bridge player Peter Lester

Peter won the Tollemache in 1968, the Four Stars in 1969, the Spring Foursomes in 1974 & 1975 and the Two Stars in 1976 & 1977 partnering Ian Panto. He played three times for England in the Camrose, winning twice and losing once.

Peter gave up bridge in the late 1970s but returned in the early 2010s and had one last hurrah, winning Crockfords Cup in 2013 when his team won the split tie. Winners: Paul Hackett, Tom Hanlon, Peter Lester, Hugh McGann & Ian Panto, 2nd place Nick Irens, Espen Erichsen, Tom Townsend, Zia Mahmood, David Bakhshi.

Peter was happily married to Irene for many years and was the father of Aishleen & Sinead.
