Nettleton Team with Eastbourne Bowl at the Autumn Congress

The Autumn Congress concluded yesterday with a multiple teams event, a qualifying round, followed by three finals. The 'A final', for the Eastbourne Bowl, was won by the Nettleton team Sara Moran, Andrew McIntoshTom Paske & Diana Nettleton (pictured), with the Murphy team of Paddy Murphy, Mark Roderick, Liz Commins & David Stevenson in second. Two teams finished joint third; the Sansom team (Brian Senior, Clive Owen, John Sansom & Jason Hackett) and the Plumley team (Robert Plumley, Erik Sælensminde, Kostadin Vasilev & Anton Mauve).

The Burlington Cup (the secondary final) was won by M Wenble, David Barnes, Stefan Lindfors & Janet Barnes (picture), and the Sussex Cup (the consolation final) was won by Lilias Lamont, Andrew Doye, James Bond & Graham Davison.

The Two Star Pairs, the main competition at the Autumn Congress, was won by Richard Plackett & Espen Erichsen. They finished with a score of 58.48%, 2.24% ahead of Derek Maggs & Alan Sia in second place, and Bill Pencharz & Jerry Cope were third with 56.14%.

The Two Star Pairs was the second competition in the 2022/23 Player of the Year Championship, and Richard and Espen now move up to 7th in the standings. Tom Paske's fourth placed finish moves him into first place. Please note: from next year the 2-Stars Pairs will be part of the Spring Bank Holiday Congress which will be held face-to-face.

The Swiss Pairs - for non-qualifiers, and those joining the congress after the qualifying rounds - was won by Denis King & Mike Fawcett, with David Wing & Roland Gronau finishing second and Giles Ip & Mark Hill in third.
