The board and Competitions Working Group have been considering the competitions calendar for the future, now that everything seems to be settling down into a new routine after the instability of the Covid pandemic and various lockdowns.
Changes to the calendar will be based on a return to the established division of responsibilities, with the EBU responsible for running all national events, counties running regional events and clubs running local events. Since online ODGP events have national reach, they will be run by the EBU.
New Online One-Day Green-Pointed (OODGP) events:
Ten annual (Apr – Mar) OODGP events run nationally will take the place of all county-run online ODGP events. They will comprise a mixture of Swiss Pairs and Swiss Teams and will be held on Saturdays and Sundays, with some but not all held on RealBridge. Annual prizes will be awarded to top players based on ranking points. Green points will be awarded for each event on the usual scale, but ranking awards are expected to be large due to increased numbers.
Counties will continue to run ODGP events face-to-face and may run any of their other (non-green pointed) events online.
