Tom Bradley

1936 - 2005

Tom Bradley of Burgess Hill, West Sussex, died after a short illness on 27th May 2005 at the age of 69, was a key administrator in British bridge.

He was Treasurer of the English Bridge Union for over twenty years up to 2005, and had been Treasurer of the Educational Trust for British Bridge since its creation.

In addition Tom had held numerous posts on tournament, selection and finance committees for club and county, for England and Great Britain. He was always willing to do the detailed work that some officials avoided.

Tom, highly-regarded and well-liked, was a key figure in the organisation of the World Junior Championships in Nottingham in 1989 and the European Junior Championships in Torquay in 2002. He was President of the British Bridge League from 1997 to 1998.

The Tom Bradley Award was created in honour of Tom, who was a champion of attracting new persons into the game of Bridge and was particularly supportive of endeavours which were aimed at the younger player. Tom left a legacy in his will.
