Ukraine Events

This information has been emailed to all clubs and counties:

We know that in response to the current situation in Ukraine a number of clubs and counties are planning to organise events to raise money for various charities. The EBU has been asked by some of you to waive the UMS or licence fees for these events and we are happy to do so for events in support of Ukraine charities where everyone involved in organising and running them will also be doing so on an unpaid basis.

In order to make this as simple as possible we do not need you to do anything other than submit the event as usual and email gordon@ebu.co.uk to tell us that you have done so; we will then change the submission code so that you are not charged for it.

We are aware that included in the UMS amount for regular games is a county element for many counties (some charge 0%). We anticipate that you will also be happy for this to go to the charities, but we know that not all counties are in the same position financially and if you do not feel able to do this, please let us know and we will make arrangements for you to receive your county portion.

We also know that Kent, Surrey and Sussex are intending jointly to hold an online GP Swiss Pairs, as a one off, with all proceeds to go to the Ukraine Refugee Appeal, on Saturday 2nd April with a 9-high event running in parallel. Clubs and counties who do not have the resources to organise their own events may well wish to publicise this as widely as possible for their members to support instead.
